02.10.2022The giant event poogie in World that one shots even through guard and Fatalis armor. I'd rather solo Extremoth than fight that atrocity.
Spring Smartson
01.10.2022Fight me on this, Alatreon in world was weak, soloing him with non elemental GS was short, breezy, fun and easy.
Instead I would put Savage Deviljho, specifically in older games where he hit like a truck, had the speed of a Formula 1 and the range of an ICBM.
PS: is Eruzerion not on the list?
ブラック★ロックシューターステラ
01.10.20227:26 correction it does not have to be astera jerky alatreons full powerd up EJ (Escaton Judgement) deals 1000 or 2000 player hp dmg i am currently not sure about this
1 time breaking alatreons elemental armor will reduce the dmg how ever to 300 hp dmg even a simple mega potion can out heal it at 190 hp
2 elemental breaks will decrese it to 170 hp dmg so at 200 hp u dont even need to heal anymore in theory and can let health regen augmentation handle it
3rd break will only deal 160 hp dmg not really nessescary but neat to have it

01.10.2022For me the behemoth EX was the hardest! His special attacks which are mostly scattered or AoE are overwhelming.
Equinox
01.10.2022I'm surprised Eruzerion wasn't on the list. Like, just looking at it fight for 10 seconds is clear to see why it would be a massive problem

01.10.2022Suprised that there was no Honerable mention of Ancient Leshen. From what I understood until Fatails, Ancient Leshen had the highest health pool of anything in World/Iceborne.

01.10.2022We all know the hardest monster is the first wall that you faced in your first monster hunter game
Hailstormful
01.10.2022Shame on my record, as of now the ONLY fight I still never beat is "Extreme" Behemoth…
Even Fatalis could be Semi-cheesed by using your Palico to wrangle out Random scales and cortexes until you could build Fatalis's armor, which was super busted

29.09.2022How about the top 10 hardest NON-Elder Dragon Monsters?

29.09.2022I would say White Fatalis is a bit more difficult than normal one.

29.09.2022I find it weird to have iceborne Rajang on here, he honestly felt easier to deal with than regular rajang, and I found Sunbreak rajang to actually be more difficult and better at catching me off guard. And while I have not given up on iceborne, I have genuinely not completed Fatalis yet and do plan to come back and give him hell, somehow.

29.09.2022Idk how the Ancient Great Leshen isn’t on this list lmao. Before Fatalis he was the only monster in the game that was a legit challenge due to it just being some artificial difficulty gimmick like Alatreon. And Lunastra’s super nova wind pressure was the most annoying thing ever lmao smh, but it was the only thing difficult about her. I think as far as World/Iceborne go Fatalis and Ancient Great Leshen are the only legit just hard monsters. No gimmicks (aside from Fatalis’s big flame but I don’t really count that because it was super easy to deal with compared to Alatreon’s attack) just the fight.
The T
29.09.2022Fatalis/Alatreon for me. I beat Fatalis solo before I beat Alatreon solo. And I was elemental DB main lol. The feeling of finally downing Fatalis after so many 20-30min wipes was glorious.
Ashura D_Fox
29.09.2022As much as people would probably be angry for repeating this…
4u, G-rank lv140 quest to fight atleast 1 apex rajang… The ptsd is still not gone away from me…
I was forced to do speedrunning and grit my teeth… (Despite that, I enjoyed every second of it)
WhiteRaito
29.09.2022Iceborne Fatalis also GU reaverbolt ex and bloodbath ex is the scariest one for me. I need to actually tryhard on them even in 4 player set up.
I am waiting for tier S+ fight in sunbreak but prolly it will be just risen crimson glow at the end or risen scormango. I wish it could be of something like dalamadur/gog but with lots of new moveset.
Robert E. O. Speedwagon
29.09.2022I had played Tri a little bit on my friends Wii, and fighting Lagi without knowing ANY mechanics was just absurd. Though I dont count that 😂
Fulgar Anjanath, a monster that just always seems to catch me off guard no matter what, and aside from the Black Dragons, is one of the only Monsters I will not fight solo 😂 regular Anjanath being possibly my favourite monster depending on the day you ask me, was of course my first ever brick wall and I loved it
MetalMonkey
26.09.2022I didn't fight Alatreon or Fatalis in IB, but back in the day Alatreon was my B. I taught my boss' kid how to cut his teeth on that mofo. Didn't care for World as much as the older games…
That said I have to wonder how hard Frontier was. I'm surprised as hell Molten Tigrex didn't make it in here but several F monsters did.
Roberto Romero
26.09.2022I feel the black dragon called Greatest Jagras is the strongest monster at least lore wise. But fatalis was pretty crazy too.
DaniPhantomPR
26.09.2022Honorable Mention: Ancient Leshen
Andhika NT
26.09.2022It’s Alatreon from Iceborne for me. It’s truly a true hunter challenge for me because of it’s unique elements mechanics ( a.k.a. The Escaton Judgement). While I can dodge most attack, the needs to take elemental weapons into the calculation play a big part of how we devise the strategy.
But really, the reason I think Alatreon is harder than Fatalis is that it actually comes in as my nightmare sometimes in between xD
Matheus Alcântara
26.09.2022There's only one monster who scared me as HELL, and his name is Bloodbath Diablos.
Sektos Eisenherz
26.09.2022MHFU Ukanlos should be on this list tbh, he was really AIDS
Russell Williams
26.09.2022Icebourne Fatalis was incredible extremely tough but the armor and weapons you get is worth the hard work to take him I was able to defeat Fatalis twice and those 2 hunts was all i neede to get the full armor and a weapon. I was so hyped when I beat him first time and can't wait to hunt Fatalis again in a future Monster Hunter game.

26.09.2022The Bloodbath Diablos EX fight in GenU triggers PTSD flashbacks.
Shoopy Doopy
26.09.2022fatalis may one shot with more than half of his attacks, while the other half has plesioth sized hitboxes, but the fact that you basically have to change your playstyle and equipment multiple times to deal with alatreons bullcrap puts it just a teensy bit higher in my book. both were insanely difficult fights that im hoping and dreading to see again in sunbreak.
HFBLADE Cero
26.09.2022Lunastra should be even in top 20
NashjTV
25.09.2022You can knock Furious Rajang out of his enrage, by hitting his head, though you'd stun him faster with a blunt weapon.
Tom Lemao
25.09.2022honestly i always feel iceborne alatreon difficulty is kinda overated. don't get me wrong is a good challenge, and if i may not put him in this top 10, he would obviously close to it.
for me, alatreon traumatize people not because of how hard he was meant to be, but because how garbage the iceborne meta was back then (and still his tbh).
having to adapt your build/playstyle isn't for me a sign that a monster especially hard, cause that's monster hunter, you're already meant to do it. but the main problem with iceborne when alatreon release, is that, you simply couldn't adapt your build because of how bad element is in it.
like, seriously, the only good elem weapon of this game was the kulve taroth weapon with crit elem in it.
meaning, if you didin't already got one of those weapon, you were litteraly forced to wait TWO WHOLE WEEK for high rank kulve to come back in the event rotation, just to have a good weapon that allow you to play around alatreon mechanic.
but once you got such a build, he was never that terrifying. challenging? yes totally, and a great fight on top of that. but in term of sheer difficulty, he's far from the top. and i personnaly think that even some rise monster are actually harder than him, like valstrax or apex zinogre

25.09.2022I never failed to get absolutely destroyed by MR Arch Tempered Lunastra, the wind flinch is real and my health bar is non-existent R.I.P 😢

25.09.2022I would rather fight a Fatalis than a Rajang anyday
Scott Fox
25.09.2022Iceborne ramped the game up so much once Safi dropped. When Alatreon came, it was a gut check. I felt I finally had to learn to play better.
When Fatalis dropped. . . Hoooo boy. That was one hell of a challenge.
Scott Fox
25.09.2022The thing about Fatalis though is the way the challenge was designed. It never felt unfair. Just, hard. The race against the clock in his fight might have been the only real clock race in the game. The only time where the timer felt like a genuine threat to success.
The way they ramped up the fight progressively, the way the clock timer would pop up when you were close to expiration, the way the music shifted dramatically right up until the dragonator hit and the score shifted to the most epic song they could have played…it all culminated in one of the most intense rushes I've ever experienced in my 32 years of playing video games.
I was there at the dawn of NES and SNES. I was there foe the rise of Playstation. I played the original warcraft games and so many other RPGs and action games. Soul Reaver, Zelda, Mega Man in its countless iterations. I rocked out on MH since Gen 2. I even remember my first struggle against Bulldrome because I was new and didn't know what I was doing at all. GS slow movements hurt me so bad.
And yet,
For all of these games and all of this history, Fatalis will always stick out as one of my fondest memories of a video game ever. It's in my top 5. I had half my family watching me play as I struggled and railed against this fight and when I finally succeeded after, I think the 15th try with randoms because I like playing with randoms so much more than solo, I finally got that victory screen I fought so damn hard for. I screamed out in cheer as my wife just said, "Finally, took you long enough."
It was bliss, and God help me, I want more of that. I want that genuine challenge. I want that magical balance of monster, mechanics, and music. I want more moments like that and Iceborne Fatalis showed me just what Capcom can deliver on when they truly put their minds and efforts into it.
If Capcom can deliver more experiences like that, I will absolutely be here for it, cash in hand and ready to go.

23.09.2022GU's low rank Cephadrome has a higher killcount on me than IB's Fatalis…

23.09.2022Friend: Hey, can you help me hunt?
Me: No problem. I haven't touched the game in a while, let me just warm up and I'll join you.
Friend: Ok!
20 minutes later…
Friend: You sure take a while to warm up…
Me: Don't worry I'm nearly done with the quest.
The quest: "Fade to black"

23.09.2022I agree with everyone here mentioning Iceborne Alatreon and Fatalis in terms of general difficulty. However, I feel that the difficulty in the Monster Hunter series is more about matchups, weapon choice, play style, and experience than it is about a monster being flat out "hard" (for example, I found Iceborne Furious Rajang to be extremely easy, easier than base Rajang actually). For the average dedicated hunter, almost every monster eventually becomes "easy" (with obvious extreme exceptions), so for me, the hardest monsters are the ones who took the longest to become "easy" for me or the ones that never became easy and just are bad matchups for me, ie. walls. My walls in each game I put hundreds of hours in (so I won't count MH4U and MHGU which I didn't play for THAT long) are the following:
MH3U: Underwater Lagiacrus, Lucent Nargacuga, Alatreon
MHW Iceborne: Tempered GL Coral Pukei-Pukei, Blackveil Vaal Hazak, Raging Brachydios, MR Lunastra, Fatalis
MHR Sunbreak: Barroth, Almudron, Crimson Glow Valstrax, PC Version Magnamalo

23.09.2022Honestly, the tempered Kirin to unlock HR 50 in World deserves an honorable mention. Screw iceborne's Fatalis and Alatraeon! Never beat Fatalis and only beat the easier Alatraeon to unlock Fatalis. I stopped playing Iceborne because of Fatalis and even when I managed to get all the armor except the helmet, arch tempered Velkhanna put me on ice.
